Geek Bar Isn’t Hitting? Here’s What to Do

Geek Bar is the most popular disposable vape brand on the market today, and one of the features that has made the brand so successful is its reliability. That’s going to make it quite surprising if you have a Geek Bar that’s not hitting – especially if you’ve just taken the device out of the package and were expecting to start vaping right away.

Never fear, because most of the reasons why a Geek Bar might not work are simple and are easily fixed. Here’s what you need to do with a Geek Bar that isn’t hitting.

Check for a Cover and Sticker

If you have a brand-new Geek Bar that isn’t working, the first thing that you should do is make sure that you’ve unpacked the device correctly – especially if you’re new to disposable vapes and don’t have any previous experience with this type of device.

A Geek Bar will always have a cover or plug to keep the mouthpiece closed and prevent leaking when the device is in the package. You can remove this and discard it.

Your Geek Bar may also have a sticker or strip of tape covering the airflow hole on the bottom. You can discard this as well.

Turn Your Geek Bar On

After you’ve removed all of the packaging material, the screen on your Geek Bar should light up when you try to puff on the device. If that doesn’t happen, the device is turned off. You’ll need to move the switch on the bottom of the device to turn the Geek Bar on.

The Geek Bar’s switch has three different positions. They are:

Close: In this position, the Geek Bar is turned off.

Middle: In this position, the Geek Bar works in its standard single-coil mode and lasts up to 15,000 puffs.

Pulse: In this position, the Geek Bar works in the dual-coil Pulse Mode and lasts up to 7,500 puffs while generating double the vapor.

Charge Your Geek Bar’s Battery

Is your Geek Bar not turning on when you puff on it, even though you’re sure that the switch isn’t in the “Close” position? In this case, your next step should be to charge the battery. Connect the device to your computer with a USB cable and wait a few minutes to see if the screen turns on. If it does, allow an hour or so for your device to charge and try using it again. If it’s still not working, your Geek Bar isn’t charging. Here’s what to do next.

Try connecting the Geek Bar to your computer using a different charging cable. This will almost always fix a vaping device that isn’t charging.

Connect your Geek Bar to a different power source. A computer is always ideal, but you can also use a wall charger if you like. The wall charger should have an output of 5 volts and 1 amp. Don’t use a fast charger for a smartphone.

Clean your Geek Bar’s charging port. This shouldn’t be a concern if you’re troubleshooting a new device. If you’ve been using the Geek Bar for a while, though, it’s possible that the port is clogged with dust and lint. You can use a toothpick to remove contaminants from the port.

Check for a Faulty or Stuck Puff Sensor

Like other disposable vapes, the Geek Bar has an airflow sensor that causes the device to activate when you inhale through it. The sensor is a simple moving mechanism that can get stuck if e-liquid gets on it, and it’s not rare at all for disposable vapes to develop internal leaks. If your Geek Bar’s screen turns on when you move the switch – but it’s not hitting when you puff on it – the airflow sensor might be to blame. Here’s what to do.

Try taking a short, sharp hit to get the puff sensor unstuck. If the Geek Bar starts hitting, you can probably vape normally at this point. It’s possible that you might have to continue using more air pressure than normal, though, in order to keep the sensor working.

Try blowing firmly through the Geek Bar’s mouthpiece. This forces the airflow sensor to move in the opposite direction, which can also potentially get it unstuck.

As a last resort, you can try tapping the Geek Bar firmly against your hand a few times. Don’t bang it on a hard surface, though, because that can potentially cause internal damage to the device.

Check for a Fake Geek Bar

Because Geek Bars are so popular, you always need to be on the lookout for fake devices. They’re much more common than you might think, and they’re being produced in massive volumes right now because the official Geek Bar factory is having trouble keeping up with consumer demand. Since fake Geek Bars are likely to made with low-quality parts, it’s entirely possible to buy a counterfeit device that ends up not working at all. Some of the signs of a fake Geek Bar include:

The code on the box doesn’t pass the authenticity check on the official Geekbar.com website.

The box doesn’t seem to meet Geek Bar’s usual quality standards. The cardstock should be firm at the corners. The printing should have vivid colors and text that’s not blurry or misprinted.

The visual quality of the device itself doesn’t meet Geek Bar’s usual standards. The screen printing on the plastic should be sharp and shouldn’t scrape off easily. The parts should fit together properly, and there should be no sharp points left over from the injection molding process.

Return the Geek Bar

If all else fails – and your Geek Bar has never worked – you should return the device to the seller. Any good vape shop should happily accept a return of a non-functional disposable vape, although some stores might have policies stipulating that dead devices need to be returned within a day of purchase. The cashier at the vape shop will also most likely ask you to test the new device and confirm that it works before you leave the store.
